At Ike Kligerman Barkley, our architecture and interior departments work throughout history and across styles, always seeking to enhance life through good design. 

We collaborate with our clients, craftsmen and colleagues to produce personalized living environments as well as the occasional high profile public building. In our 25 years, we’ve designed buildings across the country and around the world: a Georgian townhouse in the River Oaks neighborhood of Houston; a mountain lodge in Aspen; a loft in a repurposed butter factory in Manhattan; a vernacular white villa in Cabo San Lucas; a Romanesque building on Stanford’s campus; and a rambling, weathered shingle house in Martha’s Vineyard. 

Our two offices in New York City and San Francisco enable us to serve clients smoothly from coast to coast and beyond. In both locations, we realize our projects through traditional handicraft and cutting-edge processes. Structures are imagined in impressionistic watercolors and communicated through sketches; they are also digitally rendered and designed using the latest technologies, including our in-house 3D printer. From these initial designs through construction, we focus on selecting the best materials. Enduring material integrity is a hallmark of our work.

We have been fortunate to receive numerous awards, including the AIA New York Chapter Award, the DDB Stars of Design Award, the ICAA Julia Morgan Award and the ICAA Stanford White Award, as well as participating in the AD100 since 1995. In 2010, the Monacelli Press published our first monograph, Ike Kligerman Barkley: Houses; we have recently embarked on our second book with the publisher, to be released in 2015. 

Before launching Tim Barber Ltd in 1994, Tim worked in urbam reclamation, histroc preservation and adaptive re-use. Two decades later, with hundreds of completed projects the firm is widely publish and celebrated as definitive interpreter of Souther California architectural varnacular in projects ranging from mixed-used fevelopments and multi-family housing to large estates and custom family homes. In 2012, the firmed earned LEED Gold rating for new traditional home in Sherman Oaks

McAlpine Interiors is the partnership of Bobby McAlpine, Ray Booth and Susan Ferrier. Their interiors firm, in existence since 1997, attracts clients from across the United States with designs for both the public and private sectors including residences, restaurants and a chapel. They maintain offices in Atlanta, Nashville and New York. The driving concept of the firm is to create timeless, emotionally evocative interiors that reflect the vision and needs of their clients. The firm’s founder, Bobby McAlpine, is known for his acclaimed work both in the architectural and interiors field and follows in his work the pursuit to create “the inheritable house.” It is this approach which has led the firm to regional, national and internationally recognized work in publications such as Architectural Digest, Southern Accents, House Beautiful, Veranda, House and Garden, Metropolitan Home, Traditional Home and British House and Garden. Having always produced custom furniture, McAlpine debuted his own furniture line, McAlpine Home, in 2002 with upholstered pieces by Lee Industries in North Carolina and English-made case goods from MacRae in Atlanta. In his best-selling book from Rizzoli International, McAlpine speaks poignantly from his head and heart about everyone’s personal search for home. Armed with the perspective of a southerner and an arsenal of architectural experience, he reveals his thoughts on grace, the human condition, tenderness of place and what we know to be true in our lives, all based on his body of work created over the last three decades.
